Case Study - Chillin' Air Conditioning Artwork

Client: Chillin' Air Conditioning
Mission: To create some iconic surf & skate inspired artwork for Chillin' Air Conditioning to use as new logos. Richard (Director of Chillin' Air) is a massive skate nut (you should see his "board" room filled with old school decks from way back and my own Wall Art Decals!), loves skateboarding and really wanted to capture the fun & style from surfing & skateboarding for his business. The brief to create a skate style design Rick could use for his business was just too good to pass up!
Scope of Work: Creating the logos for Chillin' Air branches, located south of Brisbane in Queensland and another new location on the Sunshine Coast. Obviously working with the Air Conditioning professionals we needed these designs to be COLD! The main logo had to be skate themed due to Ricks passion - so I always loved the idea of taking the Chillin' Air name and carving it out of ice blocks and whats the coolest cat in the snow? Of course the infamous Yeti! is the perfect one to be shredding waves & grinding up ice blocks!
The project expanded to include creating reusable Wall Decals to decorate the offices at Chillin' Air HQ as well as customising a set o skateboards with the artwork.
Medium: With all commission artwork I start with pencil & paper sketch, to get the rough positioning of key elements & how the design will work together. I then used digital illustration programs ProCreate & Adobe Illustrator to add details, colours, lines & finalise the designs ready for printing.
In this case I printed vinyl stickers, custom skateboards and custom Wall Decals. I provided the print file that allowed for Chillin' Air to arrange their own vehicle vinyl stickers as well.
Results: Rick & the whole team at Chillin' Air Conditioning loved the artwork I created so much they had their company van fleet updated to include the artwork and the extra large Wall Decals made for the office space. Rick was also kind enough to recommend my artwork to the national air conditioner manufacturer Gree Air Conditioners, who have commissioned some cool (pun definitely intended!) artwork for their brand!
Overall the mission to create this design that captured the fun & eclectic surf & skate culture and present it in a way that works for a Queensland air conditioning company!
